UU Workshop Privacy & Cookie Policy
1. Who we are
Effective date: October 14, 2026
This policy explains how Useful & Usable Workshop™ ("UU Workshop," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information when you visit www.uuworkshop.com (the "Site"), sign up for our newsletter, or contact us. It also explains how we use cookies.
UU Workshop is operated by Useful & Usable Workshop™, 139 W Como Avenue, Columbus, OH 43202. You can reach us about privacy at public@uuworkshop.com.
The Site is hosted on Squarespace. We sell our products through our Etsy shop. When you buy on Etsy, Etsy's own privacy policy governs the information you give Etsy; we receive only the order details Etsy shares with sellers (see section 5).
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the Site, send updates you ask for, and answer your messages.
Information you give us
- Newsletter signup: your email address.
- Messages to us: your name, email address, and anything you include when you email us, use a contact form, or message us on social media.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and time spent on the Site.
- Approximate location: country, region, or city inferred from your IP address.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see section 4.
Information from others
- Etsy: when you order from our Etsy shop, Etsy shares the details we need to fulfill your order, such as your name, shipping address, and what you bought.
- Social platforms: if you follow, tag, or message us on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or Bluesky, we see the information your settings on that platform make available.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information such as health, financial account, or government ID data.

4. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device so it can remember things, such as items in your cart or whether you have already seen a pop-up. We also use similar tools, such as browser local storage. We use two kinds:
- Necessary cookies keep the Site working and secure. They are always on, because the Site cannot function properly without them.
- Analytics and performance cookies tell us how many people visit, which pages they view, and how they found us. We place these only after you accept them in our cookie banner, where the law requires consent.
We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Embedded content and links. If we embed a YouTube video or similar content, that provider may set its own cookies when you play it. Clicking through to Etsy or a social media site takes you to that company's website, which uses its own cookies under its own policy.
Managing cookies. You can change your choices at any time with the cookie settings link in the Site footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the Site, such as the cart, from working.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Browsers' Do Not Track signals have no common standard, so we do not respond to them. Where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of non-essential cookies.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the business, and only as much as they need:
- Squarespace hosts the Site, stores newsletter signups and form submissions, and provides analytics and checkout. Squarespace privacy policy
- Etsy processes orders placed in our Etsy shop. Etsy privacy policy
- Email service such as Squarespace Email Campaigns sends our newsletter.
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) helps us understand how visitors use the Site, View Google’s privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or merger of the business. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
International transfers. We and our providers are based in the United States. If you visit from outside that country, your information will be processed there. Where the law requires it, our providers rely on approved safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
6. How long we keep information, and how we protect it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in section 3:
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Newsletter email address | Until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days (we may keep a suppression record so we don't email you again) |
| Order and transaction records | 7 years, to meet tax and accounting rules |
| Analytics data | Up to 2 years (Squarespace analytics cookie lifetime) |
| Google Analytics data | 14 months |
We protect information with reasonable safeguards, including HTTPS encryption on the Site, access limited to people who need it, and providers with strong security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights and choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, wherever you live. Email public@uuworkshop.com with your request; we will reply within 30 days (45 days where U.S. state law allows). We may need to confirm your identity first. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Choices everyone has

- Change cookie choices with the cookie settings link in the Site footer, or in your browser.
EU, UK, and Swiss residents have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of their data; to restrict or object to processing; and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
California and other U.S. state residents (including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and others with privacy laws) may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it; to access, correct, and delete it; and to opt out of its sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or profiling. We do not sell or share personal information for those purposes. You may use an authorized agent to make a request. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; if you remain unsatisfied, you may contact your state attorney general.
8. Children, changes, and contact
